Thanks to Kindle Nation citizen Jeff H for this suggestion that is in total harmony with the spirit of Kindle Nation:
Amazon has announced the 500 quarterfinalists in its 2010 Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award competition, and has just made substantial excerpts from their work available free in the U.S. Kindle Store.

Amazon.com, along with Penguin Group (USA) and CreateSpace, is pleased to announce the third annual Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award, the international competition seeking the next popular novel. For the first time, the competition will award two grand prizes: one for General Fiction and one for Young Adult Fiction. The 2010 competition is open to unpublished and previously self-published novels waiting to be discovered. Each winner will receive a publishing contract with Penguin, which includes a $15,000 advance.

Hello. I really LOVE your emails, and was wondering if you had any thoughts about highlighting or promoting any of the recent Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award quarterfinalists. (www.amazon.com/abna) - the top 250 quarterfinalists have their excerpts listed on the site for free download to Kindles (and kindle apps!)
I'm writing this because my partner is one of those authors whose novel Dodging and Burning, is amongst the quarterfinalists. Perhaps just a quick story on how Kindle users could explore some new undiscovered talent....
thanks!
keep up the good work
Jeff H - Kindle early adopter (and soon to be iPad early adopter too, but will NEVER give up my Kindle)
Thanks for the kind words, Jeff, and, what can I say, great minds think alike? In addition to having posted about this (see below) last Wednesday when the quarterfinalist excerpts first appeared in the Kindle Store, Kindle Nation Daily will also be featuring a breakdown on some of the free excerpts, sorted by genre, during the next few days.
Meanwhile, congratulations and good luck to John, and here's a revisit of our brief post from March 24:

I wish ALL the excerpts were available in one fat and free Kindle book...or even a group of them, each sorted by genre.
